Each gram of product contains:
Amoxicillin trihydrate (active substance): 100 mg

Target species

Pigs and chickens.

Indications

The product is recommended in the treatment of primary or secondary respiratory, gastrointestinal, urogenital, skin and mucosal infections caused by bacteria susceptible to amoxicillin.

In chickens it is used in the treatment of pasteurellosis, colibacillosis, salmonellosis, spirochetosis, staphylococci, dermatitis and other diseases caused by bacteria susceptible to amoxicillin.

In pigs it is used in the treatment of colibacillosis, salmonellosis, swine erysipelas, primary or secondary broncho-pneumonia infections, atrophic rhinitis, Brachispira dysentery, metritis-mastitis-agalaxia syndrome in sows, urinary infections, omphalophlebitis caused by bacteria susceptible to amoxicillin.

Administration

AMOXIDEM 10% PREMIX is administered via feed in the following dosages:

In chickens: it is administered orally, in a dose of 80-120 mg Amoxidem 10%-premix/Kg bodyweight, twice/day, for 5 consecutive days.

In chickens up to 14 days old: administer 1900g of Amoxidem 10%-premix/ton of feed, for 5 consecutive days.

For chickens over 14 days old and adult hens: administer 1600g of Amoxidem 10%-premix/ton of feed, for 5 consecutive days.

In pigs: it is administered orally, in a dose of 40-60 mg Amoxidem 20%-premix/kg body weight.

In pigs up to 70 days old: administer 1900g of Amoxidem 10%-premix/ton of feed, for 5-7 consecutive days.

In pigs over 70 days old and adults: administer 1600g of Amoxidem 10%-premix/ton of feed, for 5-7 consecutive days.

The uptake of medicated feed is dependant on the clinical condition of animals. In order to obtain the correct dosage, the concentration in feed may have to be adjusted.

Contraindications

Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions may occur in some animals. In such situations, remove the medicated feed and treat the animals by administering antiallergic medication (antihistamines, adrenaline, noradrenaline, glucocorticoids).

The product must not be administered in small rodents such as hamsters, Guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas. The amoxicillin is altering the intestinal microflora of these animals leading to lethal enterocolitis.

Side effects

Rarely, some animals may develop hypersensitivity reactions. In such cases, remove the medicated feed or water and treat the animals by administering of anti-allergic medications (antihistamines, adrenaline, corticosteroids).

Special precautions for storage

Keep away from reach and sight of children.
Keep in original packaging, at temperature below 25oC, protected from direct sunlight and moisture.
Shelf-life after first opening of primary package: 28 days.
Shelf life after incorporation into meal or pelleted feed: 7 days.
Do not use after expiry date which is stated on the label.

Advice on correct administration

During treatment, the animals should eat only medicated feed.

To ensure a correct dosage, body weight should be determined as accurately as possible to avoid underdosing.

The product should be well mixed with the feed to be homogenous.

Withdrawal period

Meat and offal:

Pigs, chickens: 28 days after cessation of oral medication.

Not permitted for use in laying birds producing eggs for human consumption.

Special warnings

People with known hypersensitivity to any of the product ingredients should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product. To prevent any unpleasant effects, personal protective equipment consisting in rubber gloves, goggles and dust masks should be worn when administering the product. Wash hands and exposed skin after use.

In case of accidental ingestion or the occurrence of symptoms characterized by skin rash, seek medical advice. Serious symptoms such as face swelling, lips or eye lids, accompanied by breath difficulties, are life-threatening symptoms and need immediate medical attention.

Use of the product should be based on susceptibility testing of the bacteria isolated from the animal. If this is not possible, therapy should be based on local (regional, farm level) epidemiological information about susceptibility of the target bacteria. National and regional antimicrobial policies should be taken into account when using the product.

Special precautions for the disposal of unused product or waste materials

For the environmental protection, medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Any unused veterinary medicinal product or waste materials derived from such veterinary medicinal products should be disposed of in accordance with local requirements.
